An ideas stimulant to produce an easy to construct working INVENTA model.

PROBLEM

There is a world wide oil shortage. In an effort to reduce the number of petrol/oil based motor racing cars you need to design a new range that run off electricity.

DESIGN BRIEF

Using only the materials listed below, construct a working model of an electric racer car. As the focus is on the type of motive force the design ahould be kept simpls. Steerage is not required.

On completion of your model try different wheel sizes and types to determine, by way of a results chart the most effective combination for maximum speed and stability. Use timing devices over a fixed distance to determine speed. Engage in races against other craft to assist with the evaluation.

This modelling activity can be tied to various areas and levels for Science, Sports and Technology. The completed working model is used to provide a series of recording for an information technology data collection and presentation unit. It involves problem solving, research, mathematics, design, tools, safety,make and evaluation skills.
