Introduction Prodigy Layout Tools Panel Function Options

Tools Panel

The Tools Panel is the oval panel to the left of the graph, it contains all the essential tools specific to the open graph file. It contains the following;

Selection Cursor
Zoom
Measure
Text Label
Channels
Coordinate boxes

Their functions are as follows;

Selection Cursor
Selection boxes allow you to define a specific area for which you wish to analyse or manipulate the data. When Selection cursor is highlighted, Selection boxes can be created by clicking and dragging corner to corner with the mouse button still depressed, the box is defined when the button is released. Click once in an open graph space to cancel a selection box.

The Select cursor tool also lets you determine specific graph point coordinates (by placing the cursor over them and reading the output in the coordinate boxes, see below) and edit or remove pre-placed Text Labels.

Zoom
Zoom lets you see the data in more detail in a specific area. With Zoom highlighted, You can zoom by clicking on the area you wish to see in more detail, clicking again will Zoom further and so on. A Zoom box can be created by clicking and dragging corner to corner with the mouse button still depressed, the box is defined when the button is released. To return to the graphs original state click once on the Zoom icon in the Tools Panel.

Measure
Measure lets you know the change in 'y' over a specific 'x' interval either within a graph channel or between two different channels. Highlight Measure, then select your two points by clicking once on a graph channel for each, as you do this a dashed line will appear to illustrate the distance from the first point, (the default is the change within one channel, this can be changed at the next step). After the second click a Measure window will appear, this displays your chosen 'x' interval (which can be modified) the channel you selected and the resultant change in 'y', the rate 'y/x' is also displayed. Two options are present - the default 'Within Channel,' displaying the change in that channel over the interval and 'Between Channels' showing the change between two - both have dropdown lists to select the channels from.

Text Label
Text Label allows you to make a note and attach it to a specific channel at your chosen point. Select Text Label and the Label window will appear. Firstly select the channel you wish to apply it to from the dropdown list, then place the text you wish to appear in the caption box, next click on 'place,' the window closes allowing you to select placement of the ledger point upon first click and text position upon second (the text is connected to the point by a ledger line). The Text Label window also allows you to temporarily remove all labels by clicking 'Hide All' and permanently remove labels by clicking 'Delete'. The Label window can be accessed for editing, deleting or placing existing text by double clicking the specific text when Selection cursor is highlighted.

Channels
The Channels list can be found under the tools in the Tools Panel. Channels represent specific sensors or data sets. A button to the left of each Channel title allows you to turn that Channel on or off, if the Channel is off it will appear greyed and the corresponding data will not be visible in the Time Graph window. When a Channel is on the button appears the same colour as the corresponding data in the Time Graph window. The colour for a Channel may be defined from a palette that appears upon double clicking the Channel button. The Channel title may be edited by double clicking it. There is a maximum of eight Channels to work with.

Coordinate Boxes
At the bottom of the Tools Panel there are two coordinate boxes labelled 'x' and 'y' these allow you to view the specific coordinates of a Channel as the Selection cursor moves over them. The colour of the numbers corresponds to the Channel they are reading. These boxes also display the changing 'x' and 'y' coordinates between two points when the Measure tool is highlighted.
